Following a successful Nidd Art Trail in August, Dave Suttill (a manager at Mackenzies Farm Shop) asked me if I would like to continue displaying my exhibition with them. Of course, I said yes!
I enjoy looking at the view through their upstairs window and made an intricate mosaic-style collage of the Nidderdale landscape. Each of the six window panes became a way for me to create seasonal colours in different types of weather. I start with spring and end with two more scenes of springtime, my favourite season. Visitors have been asking me all sorts of questions as they see me at work, using many hole-punched pieces of recycled papers to produce a layered effect.
I have added detail to the artwork of a bridge and river that aren’t really there but that’s because I very much like Japanese art and have tried to give it a Japanese look. I have also created another scene recently called Blossom Time in Japan, based on the Japanese garden at Valley Gardens, Harrogate.
Last week I had help from The Yorkshire Framer to make a professional display of my originals and framed prints in the gallery space.
I am looking forward to welcoming visitors during weekends when I am working there. I am also at Mackenzies most Fridays and will be continuing to demonstrate my form of environmental art with new pieces and projects.
