Tree of Wonder at Teesside & Liverpool

This past year I’ve been proud to say that the “Tree of Wonder”, which I created for the Tree Council, has been an important part of their “Force for Nature” campaign. I was delighted to meet Councillor Richard Kemp, Deputy Lord Mayor for The City of Liverpool (pictured with me above).

Together with the Tree Council’s Immersive Installation, my collage has been shown not only at 10 Downing Street, but the Open Eye Gallery in Liverpool, Preston Park Museum in Teesside, Hampton Court Palace, Birmingham Botanical Gardens and the NEC Big Bang Fair.

As well as a drop-in workshop at The Open Eye Gallery in Liverpool, I spoke at the evening event:  “Voices of Nature”.  I explained my views about the importance of trees and nature to me that I express through my artwork.

In my role as a Tree Council ambassador, I feel it’s important to inform the next generation about the need to care for our planet.  We must do all we can to re-use and recycle.

My art is making a statement about single use products and the amount of litter we throw away every year. I like to think that my art is highlighting issues of the environment. When travelling on the motorway, it’s clear to see how much litter there is strewn everywhere, even though there are overhead signs telling people to take their litter home, not throw it out into nature. It makes me worried about planet’s future to see strips of plastic hanging from trees and bin liners and other plastic bags on the grass verges by the motorway – food wrappings, cans, boxes and much more ruining nature. I discussed this live on air with a radio presenter on 27th April 2024 and showed my latest piece of artwork entitled “Nature under Threat”.
