From Waste to Wall

Farleys House and Gallery, East Sussex
20th May - 11th July

As a student at Bradford School of Art I became interested in Surrealist Art and have enjoyed visiting Farleys House and Gallery.

My work expresses my concern about the damaging environmental effects of single use products. My art isn’t what it’s made from, but what it has become.

While in lockdown, I made a series of canvases of the blossoming cherry tree in my garden. I felt inspired by Picasso’s depictions of birds so used discarded scratch cards from the Spanish Basque region sent to me by a friend, to create an image entitled ‘Árbol de la Vida’ (Tree of Life).

The Mezzanine Gallery at The Station in Richmond

I have very much enjoyed being part of the Swaledale Festival 2021. My thanks to Malcolm Creese, Artistic Director of the Swaledale Festival for asking me to exhibit my artwork this year at The Station, Richmond and for giving so much support. There has been a lot of positive feedback as a result of the event and it is good to have a record of the display in this link.
